John Curran of the Masterless Men says he’s moved by a tradition that’s developed among members of the Conception Bay CeeBees hockey team.
The team members sing The Bramble and the Rose after every win. Video of the tradition has been shared widely on Facebook including by Curran himself.
He says when he found out about the tradition he started making inquiries and soon learned the very moving story behind it.
They lost a team mate in a car accident in 2014 and they started singing the song in his memory because of the line “we have been so close togetherâ€. He says they’ve had at least 33 games without a loss and over four years, have had 63 wins, a few losses and a couple of ties.
He says the tradition has carried on even through changes in the team.
